§ 23075 Ocean Shore Boundary Definition

• •The ocean shore includes the water up to 3 miles out from the land.
• •If a law says 'in,' 'to,' or 'from' the ocean shore, it means within 3 miles of the shore.
• •If a law says 'along,' 'with,' 'by,' or 'on' the ocean shore, it means following a line 3 miles out from the shore.

A fisherman is fishing in the ocean.

If the fisherman is within 3 miles of the shore, they are still considered to be fishing 'in' or 'from' the ocean shore. If they are following a path 3 miles out from the shore, they are considered to be fishing 'along' the ocean shore.
