§ 20832 Employer Contributions For Members

Key Takeaways

  • •Money put into a retirement fund by employers (after June 21, 1971) is for all workers in the system, not just one person.
  • •This money helps pay for retirement benefits for workers and their families.
  • •The rule applies to workers called 'miscellaneous members' and their employers.

Example

A teacher works for a school district for 20 years. The school district puts money into a retirement fund every month.

That money isn’t just for the teacher—it’s shared with all teachers and their families who get retirement benefits from the same system.
