§ 1771 Officer Vacancy Notification Requirements

Key Takeaways

  • •If a government worker is fired, goes crazy, or breaks a serious law related to their job, someone has to tell the right people so they can find a replacement.
  • •If a job in a local government opens up because the person left or can't do the job anymore, the local government must tell the right people so they can fill the job.
  • •This is about making sure empty jobs in the government get filled quickly and correctly.

Example

A mayor gets caught stealing money from the town.

The court would tell the town council that the mayor’s job is now empty, and the council would have to find a new mayor.
