§ 17072 Warrant Cancellation Fund Credits

Key Takeaways

  • •If a warrant (like a check from the government) is canceled, the money goes back to the fund it came from.
  • •If the money was from a special account, it goes back to that same account.
  • •If the special account is for unclaimed money, the money gets moved to the General Fund instead.

Example

The government writes a check to pay for a school project, but the project gets canceled.

The money from the canceled check goes back to the school fund. If the school fund is for unclaimed money, the money goes to the General Fund instead.
