§ 13004 Director'S Departmental Authority

• •The director is in charge of doing all the jobs the law says the department must do.
• •The director has the power to make decisions for the department, unless the law says someone else should do it.
• •If the law gives the department a task, the director must make sure it gets done.

If the law says the department must check that all playgrounds are safe for kids.

The director must make sure someone from the department goes to each playground to check for broken swings or sharp edges. If the law doesn’t say someone else should do it, the director is responsible.
