§ 12656 False Claims Notice Requirement

Key Takeaways

  • •If you sue someone under this law, you must send a copy of all your court papers to the Attorney General within 3 days of filing them.
  • •If you don’t send the papers on time, the court can’t make a decision on your case unless they give you more time for a good reason.
  • •If the court gives you more time to send the papers, they must also give the Attorney General the same extra time to respond.

Example

If you sue a company for breaking this law, you must send a copy of your lawsuit to the Attorney General right away.

If you don’t send it within 3 days, the court might not even look at your case unless you have a really good excuse for being late.
