§ 12536 E-Cigarette Settlement Fund Management

Key Takeaways

  • •California made a special fund called the 'Electronic Cigarette Settlements Fund' to hold money from a big court case against JUUL.
  • •The health department is in charge of this money.
  • •The money can only be used for things agreed upon in the JUUL court case, like programs to help people stop vaping.
  • •This fund will disappear on July 1, 2035.

Example

Imagine California won money from a big company that sold vapes to kids. The state puts that money in a special piggy bank.

The piggy bank (the fund) can only be used for things like teaching kids about the dangers of vaping, not for anything else. After 2035, the piggy bank goes away.
