§ 12225 Archival Item Return Authority

• •The Secretary of State can send back any item from the archives if they think it's not important to history.
• •This can happen at any time, even after the item has been stored for a while.
• •The item goes back to the state agency that sent it in the first place.

A state agency sends old meeting notes to the archives. After a few years, the Secretary of State looks at them and decides they don’t show anything important about history.

The Secretary of State can send those meeting notes back to the agency that originally sent them.
