§ 11186 Court Subpoena Enforcement Powers

Key Takeaways

  • •The court can make people show up and answer questions if they are asked to.
  • •If someone gets a special paper (subpoena) asking for documents or answers, the court can make sure they do it.
  • •This happens in the same county where the hearing or investigation is taking place.

Example

Imagine you saw a car crash, and the police ask you to come to court to talk about what you saw.

If you get a paper (subpoena) telling you to go to court and answer questions, but you don’t want to go, the court can make you go and answer those questions.
