§ 11156 Department Head Bond Authority

Key Takeaways

  • •Bosses in government offices can ask workers to sign a promise (bond) to do their job honestly.
  • •This promise is like a safety net—if the worker does something bad (like stealing), the bond helps cover the loss.
  • •The boss decides how much money the bond should cover.
  • •This is on top of any other promises the big boss (Director of General Services) already requires.

Example

A person who handles money at the DMV might be asked to sign a bond.

If that person steals money, the bond helps pay it back. Their boss at the DMV decides how much the bond should be worth.
