§ 11096 State Publication Distribution Rules

Key Takeaways

  • •State agencies can't send out papers or reports unless someone asks for them first.
  • •They can still send things like rule books, news to reporters, or forms you need to fill out.
  • •They can tell people about reports that exist, but they can't send the full report unless asked.

Example

You get a letter from a state office with a big report about roads.

If you didn't ask for the report, they shouldn't have sent it. But if it's a form to apply for something, like a driver's license, they can send that even if you didn't ask.
