§ 10203 Legislative Counsel Selection Criteria

Key Takeaways

  • •The person who helps write laws (Legislative Counsel) must be picked only because they are good at the job.
  • •It doesn’t matter which political party they like—they can’t be chosen just for that.
  • •The rule makes sure the person is fair and skilled, not playing favorites.

Example

Imagine your school needs a new teacher to explain rules to everyone.

The school picks the teacher because they’re really good at explaining things, not because they’re friends with the principal or like a certain sports team. Same idea here—the law-picker is chosen for being good at the job, not for who they hang out with.
