§ 6551 Savings Association Agency Operations

Key Takeaways

  • •An agency is a place (not the main office or a branch) where a savings association can do business, but only what the board and commissioner allow.
  • •The agency can do extra tasks if the main office or branch says so and the commissioner agrees.
  • •The agency can only do what the law or the commissioner's rules say savings associations can do.

Example

A savings association sets up a small office in a grocery store to help people open accounts.

This small office is an 'agency' and can only help with tasks like opening accounts if the board and commissioner say it's okay. It can't do anything else unless the main office asks and the commissioner approves.
