§ 6150 Association Director Duties

Key Takeaways

  • •The people who run the group (like a club or company) are chosen by votes from the members.
  • •The leaders must take good care of the group and make smart choices for it.
  • •If the group changes from one type to another, they don’t have to use a special voting rule for 5 years unless they say so in their rules.

Example

Imagine a small credit union where members vote for who will be on the board to make big decisions.

The board members must do their best to keep the credit union safe and working well. If the credit union changes from being owned by members to being owned by stockholders, they don’t have to use a special way of voting for 5 years unless their rules say so.
