§ 5705 Federal Association Conversion

Key Takeaways

  • •If a group of people who own a company want to change it to a federal company, they have to do some paperwork.
  • •After they get the okay from the federal government, they have to tell the state government about it.
  • •Once they tell the state government, the company is no longer a state company, but a federal one.

Example

A small bank in California wants to become a federal bank.

The bank's owners have a meeting and decide to become a federal bank. They get a special paper from the federal government saying it's okay. Then, they have to give a copy of that paper to the state government. Once they do that, the bank is no longer a California bank, but a federal bank.
