§ 1079 Bank Office Approval Rules

This law lets the commissioner stop a bank from opening, moving, or changing a branch if it would be unsafe, unless the commissioner says it's okay.

Key Takeaways

  • •The commissioner can block a bank from establishing, relocating, or redesignating an office if it’s unsafe.
  • •The bank must get the commissioner’s approval before doing any of those things.
  • •The commissioner can add extra restrictions or conditions as needed.

Example

A bank wants to move a branch into an old building that has structural problems.

The commissioner can order the bank not to move there until the building is fixed or until the commissioner gives permission, and can add other rules the bank must follow.
