§ 8403 Fin Fish Trap Regulations

Key Takeaways

  • •You can catch certain types of fish (called groundfish) if you follow the rules set by the commission.
  • •You can use fish traps to catch these fish, but there are rules about how many traps you can use and where you can use them.
  • •The commission can make more rules about using fish traps, like where and how many you can use.
  • •You can catch any type of fish in a fish trap, unless there's a rule that says you can't.

Example

A fisherman wants to catch some rockfish (a type of groundfish) using fish traps.

The fisherman can use fish traps to catch rockfish, but he has to follow the rules. He can't use too many traps, and he can only use them in certain areas. If he follows these rules, he's doing it right.
