§ 5503 Fish Egg Harvesting Rules

Key Takeaways

  • •You can't take fish just to get their eggs, unless you're raising fish for farming and follow special rules.
  • •If you do take fish eggs for farming, you need permission and must follow the rules set by the Fish and Game Commission.
  • •The commission decides who owns the baby fish that come from wild fish used for farming.

Example

A person catches a salmon from a river and takes its eggs to sell at a market.

This is against the law because the person took the fish only for its eggs and didn't have permission to do so.
