§ 5000 Tortoise Protection Laws

It is unlawful to sell, purchase, harm, take, possess, transport, or shoot a projectile at, a tortoise (Gopherus). This section does not apply to the taking of a tortoise when authorized by the department. (Amended by Stats. 2015, Ch. 154, Sec. 77. (AB 1527) Effective January 1, 2016.)
