§ 308 District 22 Wildlife Regulations

This law says that in District 22, you can't hunt or catch birds or animals within one-eighth mile of a special water spot called a 'gallinaceous guzzler' if there are signs posted around it. The rules for hunting or fishing in the Colorado River in this area can also be set with Arizona's help.

Key Takeaways

  • •In District 22, don't hunt or catch birds or animals near a posted 'gallinaceous guzzler' (within 1/8 mile).
  • •The rules for hunting or fishing in the Colorado River in District 22 can be made with Arizona.
  • •Always look for signs around water spots to know if hunting is allowed nearby.

Example

You're out hunting quail in District 22 and see a small water tank with signs around it.

If you're closer than one-eighth mile to that water tank, you can't hunt the quail or any other birds or animals. You have to move farther away to follow the law.

How to Calculate

Distance from gallinaceous guzzler = 1/8 mile

  1. Find the gallinaceous guzzler (a special water spot for birds).
  2. Check if there are signs posted around it.
  3. Measure the distance from the guzzler. If you're within 1/8 mile (or 660 feet), you can't hunt or catch birds or animals there.

You're hunting and see a posted gallinaceous guzzler.

Result: You're too close! You can't hunt here because 500 feet is less than 660 feet.
