§ 2356 Trout Transport Restrictions

This law makes it illegal to move trout caught in the state to another place, except for certain anglers who are allowed to bring home a small daily amount.

Key Takeaways

  • •You cannot ship or transport trout taken in the state, except as allowed.
  • •Non‑resident anglers and active military members with a valid license may bring home one daily bag limit.
  • •The rule becomes effective on January 1, 2024.

Example

A non‑resident tourist who bought a fishing license wants to take a few trout home after a weekend trip.

Because the tourist holds a non‑resident sport fishing license, the law lets them personally carry up to one daily bag limit of trout out of the state.
