This law says the commission must tell people when and where it will meet to vote on an agreement, put that notice in a state publication, and let anyone see the agreement and attend the meeting.

Key Takeaways

  • •Notice of the meeting must be published in a Resources Agency or department publication.
  • •The notice must say that anyone can request a copy of the agreement.
  • •All meetings about approving the agreement must be open for the public to attend.

Example

The state water commission wants to approve a new water‑sharing deal with a neighboring county.

The commission must publish a notice in the Resources Agency’s newspaper saying when and where the meeting will be, say that anyone can ask for a copy of the deal, and then hold the meeting where the public can watch and speak.
