§ 15404 Public Lease Notice Requirements

• •The commission can only announce a lease after deciding the area is available and in the public interest.
• •The announcement must be printed in a newspaper that circulates in each county where the water bottom is located.
• •The notice must describe the exact area to be leased and what kind of activity will happen there, and it must follow other publishing rules (Sections 6060 and 6066).

A county wants to lease part of a lake for a fish farm.

The commission first checks that the lake area can be leased and that a fish farm would help the public. If it agrees, it puts a notice in the local newspaper of every county that touches the lake, saying what part of the lake will be leased and that it will be used for a fish farm.
