§ 10654 Water Use In Refuge

This law lets the city use the San Francisco Fish and Game Refuge land for water supply and lets water department workers do what's needed to protect the water and stop pollution.

Key Takeaways

  • •The refuge land can be used for water supply.
  • •Water department employees can take reasonable actions to protect water and prevent pollution.
  • •These actions are allowed even though the area is a wildlife refuge.

Example

A city worker wants to build a water pipe through the refuge and clean a polluted stream to keep the water safe.

The law says the worker can build the pipe and clean the stream because the land can be used for water supply and employees are allowed to take reasonable steps to protect the water.
