§ 8819 Birth Parent Address Notice

Key Takeaways

  • •If a parent loses their rights to their child, the government must tell them in writing.
  • •The parent should keep their address updated with the government.
  • •This helps if the child ever needs to know about their family’s health or background.

Example

A mom loses her parental rights because she can’t take care of her kid.

The government sends her a letter saying, 'Tell us if you move so we can give your kid info about your family’s health later if they need it.'
