§ 6700 Minor Contract Authority

This law says kids under 18 can make contracts like adults, but they can cancel them if they want. It also says marriage rules still apply to them.

Key Takeaways

  • •Kids under 18 can make contracts, but they can back out if they change their mind.
  • •This doesn't change marriage rules for minors.
  • •Some contracts (like for necessities) might still be enforced.

Example

A 16-year-old buys a phone on a payment plan.

The teen can cancel the contract and get their money back because they're under 18.
