§ 6324 Temporary Property Control Order

This law lets a judge make a quick decision about who gets to use or control property (like a house or car) while a bigger argument is being figured out. It can also say who has to pay for things like mortgages or loans on that property during this time.

Key Takeaways

  • •This is a temporary decision, not the final one.
  • •It can cover houses, cars, or other property.
  • •The judge can also say who pays for loans or bills on that property while the order is in place.

Example

A couple is getting divorced and fighting over who gets to stay in the house.

The judge can quickly decide one person can stay in the house for now, and that person has to keep paying the mortgage until the divorce is final.
