§ 20036 Pilot Project Exemption Authority

This law says a judge can decide to skip the special rules of a pilot project if someone asks or if the judge thinks it's needed.

Key Takeaways

  • •A judge can choose to not use the special rules of a test program.
  • •Either side in a case or the judge can ask for this.
  • •It’s up to the judge to decide if the normal rules should apply instead.

Example

Imagine a small court is testing a new way to handle cases faster, but one case is really complicated.

The judge can say, 'This case doesn't have to follow the new fast rules because it's too tricky.'
