§ 1841 Family Court Reconciliation Transfer

This law says that if a couple is getting a divorce or separating, the court can send them to a special court to try to work things out if they have kids and there's a chance they might reconcile.

Key Takeaways

  • •This only happens if the couple has a child whose well-being could be affected by the divorce.
  • •The court will only do this if it thinks there's a real chance the couple might reconcile.
  • •The goal is to help the couple agree on issues or even reconcile for the sake of their child.

Example

A married couple with a young child files for divorce.

The court might send them to family conciliation court to try to reconcile or agree on custody issues if it thinks there's a chance they can work things out and it would be better for their child.
