§ 8503 Director Bond And Oath

Key Takeaways

  • •When someone becomes a director, they must promise to do their job well by signing an official paper (bond).
  • •The board of supervisors decides how much this promise (bond) should be worth.
  • •The director must also swear an oath (promise) to do their job honestly.
  • •Both the promise paper (bond) and the oath must be given to the county clerk to keep safe.

Example

Imagine you get a new job as a school director.

Before you start, you have to sign a paper saying you’ll do your job well and not steal or lie. The school board decides how much money this promise is worth (like $10,000). You also have to promise out loud (oath) to do your job right. Then, you give both the paper and your promise to the county office to keep.
