§ 79818 Olive Oil Handler Liability

Key Takeaways

  • •A 'handler' is someone who sells or markets olive oil they made, bought, or are selling for someone else.
  • •If the handler is a company, the bosses and managers can also be held responsible if the company doesn’t pay required fees.
  • •Regular stores selling olive oil are not considered handlers.

Example

A small company buys olive oil from farmers and sells it to stores.

The company is a 'handler' under this law. If the company doesn’t pay the required fees, not just the company but also its bosses and managers could be in trouble.
