§ 78300 Producer Continuation Referendum

Key Takeaways

  • •In 1995, farmers got to vote on whether to keep certain rules in place.
  • •If most farmers who voted said 'yes,' the rules stayed. If not, the rules stopped at the end of 1995.
  • •The government checked the votes and told everyone the result.
  • •No special paperwork or money was needed for this vote.

Example

Imagine a group of apple farmers voting on whether to keep sharing money for ads that help sell apples.

If more than half of the farmers who voted said 'yes,' the ads kept running. If not, the ads stopped, and any leftover money was given back in a certain way.
