§ 77225 District Boundary Adjustments

Key Takeaways

  • •There are 5 areas (districts) for the commission.
  • •Each area should have about the same amount of stuff made (production).
  • •The areas can be changed if needed to keep things fair.
  • •Changes need a big vote (two-thirds) and the secretary must agree.

Example

Imagine a state where apples are grown in different parts. Some parts grow a lot of apples, and some grow fewer.

The state decides to split into 5 areas so that each area grows about the same number of apples. This way, every area has a fair say in decisions. If one area starts growing way more apples, they can change the areas to keep things fair.

These boundaries need not coincide with county lines. (b) The boundaries of any district may be changed by a two-thirds vote of the full commission, that is concurred in by the secretary, when necessary to maintain similar total production among the districts and to ensure proper representation by producers.
