§ 76701 Salmon Council Member Appointments

Key Takeaways

  • •The council has 9 or 11 members, depending on the situation.
  • •Most members are people who catch or handle salmon, like fishermen or processors.
  • •There’s always one regular person (not in the salmon business) on the council.
  • •The government picks these members, trying to spread them out geographically.

Example

A group of salmon fishermen and processors need to make rules about fishing.

The government picks 9 people—5 fishermen, 2 processors, 1 exporter, and 1 regular person—to decide on fair rules. If more processors join later, they add 2 more members to make it 11.
