§ 75630 Apple Marketing Assessment Rates

Key Takeaways

  • •Apple growers must pay a small fee for every pound of apples they sell fresh.
  • •The fee is usually no more than $0.0075 per pound, unless most growers vote to raise it.
  • •The people who buy apples from growers take the fee out of the payment and send it to the commission.
  • •The fee amount is set by July 1 each year.

Example

A farmer sells 10,000 pounds of fresh apples.

The buyer takes out $0.0075 for every pound (10,000 x $0.0075 = $75) and sends that $75 to the commission. The farmer gets paid the rest.
