§ 74061 Winegrowers Commission Composition

Key Takeaways

  • •There is a group called the Winegrowers of California Commission made up of 18 wine grape growers, 18 wine makers, and maybe one regular person.
  • •The grape growers are chosen from different areas of California, with bigger areas getting more representatives.
  • •The wine makers are chosen by everyone in the wine business, no matter where they are in California.
  • •The regular person, if there is one, is picked by the director from a list suggested by the group.

Example

Imagine you grow grapes in a big grape-growing area of California.

You and other grape growers in your area would vote to pick someone to represent your area in the Winegrowers of California Commission. If your area grows a lot of grapes, you might get to pick more representatives than a smaller area.
