§ 73104 Navel Orange Handler Representation

• •If a handler sells half or more of the navel oranges in a year, they get to pick two members for the commission.
• •Other handlers who sell less than half of the navel oranges also get to pick two members together.
• •If a handler who had two members no longer sells enough oranges, they must remove one member and their backup.
• •The empty spot left by the removed member will be filled following the rules in Section 73112.

A big orange seller, like a company, sells more than half of all navel oranges in California one year.

Because they sold so many oranges, they get to choose two people to represent them on the commission that makes decisions about oranges. If next year they don’t sell as many oranges, they have to take one of their representatives off the commission.
