§ 7272 Weed Management Area Funding

Key Takeaways

  • •Groups called 'weed management areas' can get money from the state to fight bad weeds.
  • •These groups must include landowners, government workers, and regular people working together.
  • •Only 10% of the money can be used for meetings, travel, or paperwork—the rest must go to actual weed control.
  • •Each group must make a plan to manage weeds and get it approved by the state.

Example

A group of farmers, city workers, and neighbors in a county team up to stop a fast-spreading weed from ruining crops and parks.

They form a 'weed management area,' make a plan to fight the weed, and ask the state for money. They can only spend a little of that money on meetings—the rest must go to pulling weeds or spraying safe chemicals.
