§ 67051 Avocado Commission Membership Rules

Key Takeaways

  • •There is a group called the California Avocado Commission in the state government.
  • •The group has different members: avocado growers (producers), people who handle avocados (handlers), a public member, and a secretary who doesn't vote.
  • •The number of growers in the group changes based on how many districts there are (3, 4, or 5 districts).
  • •The public member is chosen by the secretary from a list of names suggested by the group.

Example

Imagine California is divided into 4 areas (districts) where avocados are grown.

In this case, the California Avocado Commission would have 8 avocado growers (2 from each district), 2 people who handle avocados (chosen from all over California), 1 regular person (chosen by the secretary), and 1 secretary who doesn’t vote.
