§ 6271 District Consolidation Resolution

• •If a group of leaders (board of directors) wants to combine their areas (districts), they can write a formal note (resolution) saying they agree to it.
• •They must send this note to the leaders of the other areas they want to combine with.
• •They also have to send a special copy of this note to the county leaders where most of the winegrape fields are located in the new combined area.
• •They must send a regular copy of the note to the county leaders of any other areas that are part of the new combined area.

Imagine there are three small towns next to each other, and they all grow grapes to make wine. The leaders of one town think it would be better if all three towns worked together as one big town.

The leaders of the first town write a note saying they want to combine and are willing to do it. They send this note to the leaders of the other two towns. They also send a special copy of the note to the leaders of the county where most of the grape fields are, and a regular copy to the leaders of the other counties that have some grape fields too.
