§ 62572 Investment Of Deposited Funds

Key Takeaways

  • •Money collected under Section 62569 can be invested by the Treasurer if it's not being used right away.
  • •The money can be invested in safe things like government-approved securities or put in a bank.
  • •This money is treated the same way as other money in the state's treasury.
  • •Sometimes, this money can be mixed with other funds that are also waiting to be invested.

Example

Imagine the state collects extra money from a special fee, like a park entrance fee, but doesn’t need to spend it all immediately.

Instead of letting the money sit around, the state can invest it in safe things, like bonds, or put it in a bank to earn a little extra money until it’s needed. This way, the money grows a bit while waiting to be used.
