§ 6243 Winegrape District Budget Approval

• •A group (the board) must make a plan and budget for the next year after they are chosen.
• •They have to listen to people who own land with wine grapes at a public meeting before finalizing the plan and budget.
• •If someone who owns wine grape land doesn’t like the budget, they can say so in writing or out loud at the meeting.
• •Once the board approves the plan and budget, that’s what they’ll use for the next year.

A farmer who grows wine grapes doesn’t like how the board wants to spend money on new equipment.

The farmer can go to the public meeting and tell the board they don’t agree with that part of the budget. The board has to listen before they decide what to do.
