§ 6201 Winegrape Pest Control Districts

Key Takeaways

  • •This law helps create special groups (called districts) to fight bugs that hurt grape plants used for making wine.
  • •These groups can share important info and science stuff with grape farmers to help stop the bugs.
  • •The groups can also map out where the bugs are and how bad the problem is.
  • •These groups don’t have to follow some other rules that usually apply to government groups.

Example

A bunch of grape farmers in a valley notice their plants are getting sick from tiny bugs.

They can team up and form a special group under this law to fight the bugs together. The group can hire experts to study the bugs, tell all the farmers how to protect their plants, and make maps showing which farms are affected.

Division 3 (commencing with Section 56000) of Title 5 of the Government Code does not apply to districts organized pursuant to this chapter. (Added by Stats. 1993, Ch. 1078, Sec. 1.
