§ 59808 Producer Diversion Pool Rules

Key Takeaways

  • •Farmers can create special groups (pools) for fruits or vegetables that don’t meet normal quality standards.
  • •These pools help sell or use produce that isn’t good enough for regular stores.
  • •The rules for what goes into these pools are set by the marketing program or government laws.

Example

A farmer grows apples, but some are too small or bruised to sell in stores.

Instead of throwing them away, the farmer can put these apples in a special pool. This way, they can still be used for juice or other products instead of going to waste.
