§ 57403 Lien Attachment And Duration

Key Takeaways

  • •If someone owes you money for feed or supplies you gave them, you can put a lien on their stuff to get paid.
  • •You don’t have to keep filing new papers for the lien as long as they still owe you money or you keep giving them supplies regularly.
  • •If you stop giving them supplies for more than 30 days, the lien might not stay active.

Example

A farmer buys animal feed from a supplier but doesn’t pay for it.

The supplier can put a lien on the farmer’s animals or property to make sure they get paid. As long as the farmer keeps owing money or the supplier keeps delivering feed at least once a month, the lien stays in place without extra paperwork.
