§ 5012 Forage Definition For Pests

Key Takeaways

  • •Forage is food that animals eat by themselves, like when cows graze on grass or deer eat leaves from trees.
  • •This includes food for pets, farm animals, or wild animals.
  • •The food is what animals find and eat on their own, not what people give them.

Example

A farmer lets his cows out into a field to eat grass.

The grass the cows eat is called forage because the cows are eating it by themselves while grazing.
