§ 36061 Milk Labeling Truthfulness

Key Takeaways

  • •You can't put fake or tricky labels on milk bottles or cans.
  • •No lying about what's in the milk or where it comes from.
  • •Ads for milk can't have false pictures or words either.

Example

A dairy company puts a label on their milk bottle that says '100% Organic Farm Fresh' but the milk is actually from a regular farm with no organic certification.

This is against the law because the label is lying about the milk being organic. The company could get in trouble for tricking customers.
