§ 33762 Milk Quality Standards

Key Takeaways

  • •Milk or cream must be clean and fresh—no dirt, bad smells, or weird stuff mixed in.
  • •If milk is spoiled, rotten, or has gross stuff in it, factories can’t use it to make cheese, yogurt, or other dairy products.
  • •Foreign stuff (like chemicals or dirt) that makes milk unsafe or low-quality is not allowed.

Example

A dairy farm tries to sell milk that smells bad and has chunks in it.

The factory can’t take this milk because it’s spoiled and unclean. They have to throw it away instead of making yogurt with it.
