Key Takeaways

  • •Money collected from beekeepers goes into a special fund for pest control and bee research.
  • •Most of this money (five-eighths) goes back to counties to help pay for their work enforcing beekeeping rules.
  • •Counties only get the money if they follow the rules set by the state.

Example

A county spends money checking beekeepers' hives to make sure they follow the rules.

The state gives the county some of the money collected from beekeepers to pay for this work, but only if the county does what the state asks.
