§ 20755 Brand Renewal Advance Payment

Key Takeaways

  • •You can pay ahead for your brand (like a logo for your cows) to use it longer without renewing every 2 years.
  • •You pay $70 for every year you want (up to 10 years), but each year only costs $35 after the first year.
  • •If you pay ahead, you don’t have to renew every 2 years like usual.
  • •You have to pay by April 30 to get this deal.

Example

If you own a ranch and have a brand for your cows, you can pay ahead to keep using it for up to 10 years without worrying about renewing it every 2 years.

Instead of renewing your brand every 2 years, you can pay a lump sum by April 30 to cover up to 10 years. This saves you from doing paperwork every 2 years.

The owner of a recorded brand may, on or before April 30 of any year, pay in advance to the bureau a sum that is a multiple of seventy dollars ($70). The payment entitles him or her to use the brand for a minimum of two years, but not to exceed 10 years, at the rate of thirty-five dollars ($35) per year on and after April 1 of that year. If the advance payment is made, biennial renewals for the years within the period for which advance payment has been made are not required. (Amended by Stats. 2015, Ch. 406, Sec. 3.
